Our love for photography has grown out of a love for natural subjects, particularly animals, birds and their environment. Photography is our way of capturing what we see and sharing our observations with others.

Photographic vision is a creative extension of what we see. Not surprisingly, we see more through the lens than we do when we view our surroundings casually. That's because photographic vision requires concentration.

Creating memorable photographic images means not only finding exciting subjects but also exploring the best ways to present them. Birds, animals and even natural settings are dynamic. Behavior, movement and light patterns all have dramatic impacts on the final product. Artistry, patience and knowledge of natural history all contribute to excellent photographs.

Although our first 25,000 images were 35mm transparencies, we now use Canon 20D digital cameras for all our photography. Digital cameras give us much more creative control in the field than film cameras do. Using both scanned slides and digital files, we produce all our photographic art prints ourselves.

We regularly appear at Pacific Northwest art fairs and at the Salem Saturday and Wednesday markets. We have also appeared in local galleries and shows. In addition, we license editorial images to book publishers, magazines, newspapers, zoos, state parks and regional government agencies.

Our photographs are available for purchase online and at selected art festivals. Long-time residents of the Pacific Northwest, we now live in Salem, Ore.
